LAURA ALFRED CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
Something about me
I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2000 and have worked in private practice since then. In my early career I worked in a school for children with learning difficulties, where my role was to support both the students and their parents.
Before qualifying as a psychologist, I completed a masters degree in Sociology and worked as a Sociologist and university lecturer. My Sociology experience makes me sensitive to the ways in which context and culture influence people on their life's journey.
I immigrated to Australia from South Africa in 2011 and have been practising in Sydney since then. I celebrate diversity and enjoy helping people of all backgrounds and age groups.
As a mum, I have a particular interest in helping parents navigate the challenges and joys of bringing up a child. When I am not seeing clients or spending time with family and friends, I enjoy listening to music, participating in a community choir, walking and practising meditation.
I am registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and have a specialist endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist. I am a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Australian Psychological Society College of Clinical Psychologists.
